hibernation

forgive me, my love. i’ve been gone for far too long. contrary to what you may believe, it was your soft skin, warm eyes, and open arms that cast me away.

oh, you did not know this. you did not know that your loyal love forced my hibernation.

you see, it was your blood.

your blood that is my blood. it called to me in the most desperate of terms. it demanded i consume you, own you, claim you, and devour you.

oh, my darling, the blood flowing through your beautiful veins damned me before i understood the truth of the situation. i could not heed the low siren’s song your piercing eyes tossed my way.

no mortal man could withstand the way you exposed your flesh to me that night. the way you offered yourself up to me.

for you, my love, my heart is weak, but the blood pumping through me was strong. strong enough to deny me.

i did not want to hurt you. i promise, i did not. but it was inevitable that i should.

so when i left you, your love turned to hate.

sweet, sweet hate, eons in the making.

you know as well as i do that there is a thin line between love and hate and, dare i say it, obsession. it becomes heady, a tasty morsel savored between teeth and tongue and longing gazes rarely found outside the pages of gothic novels.

if only i had built a dungeon, my darling brother, and chained you there.

have we have become storybook characters forever forbidden from declaring our love? or did i change the narrative by returning? i think yes.

in the slants of moonlight highlighting your delectable figure, the hateful sneer forming across your handsome face belies the way you peel off your clothing, daring me to enter your chamber.

daring me to take what is mine.

hate me all you like, dearest brother, you are mine. your blood knows it.

forgive me, my love. i’ve been gone for far too long. your warm eyes and soft skin beckon me.

it is time to open you and feast.
